Mystic Ocean Adventures Announces Nancy McAleer Golden as New Board President

September 4, 2025 – Mystic Ocean Adventures (MOA) is proud to announce significant changes to its leadership, with the appointment of Nancy McAleer Golden as the new President of the Board of Directors. Ms. Golden, an accomplished marketing and fundraising professional, brings a distinguished record of involvement with cultural and nonprofit organizations, and a deep commitment to MOA's mission.
"I am honored and excited to step into the role of Board President for Mystic Ocean Adventures," said Nancy McAleer Golden. "The Mystic Whaler provides unparalleled opportunities for young people to learn, grow, and connect with the ocean. Our board is stronger than ever and is poised to guide Mystic Ocean Adventures to new horizons in fulfilling our mission."
Ms. Golden, a native of Connecticut and a Santa Barbara resident since 1995, has had a distinguished career. She earned her bachelor's degree in English literature from Russell Sage College before spending 21 years in various marketing positions at Time, Inc. For the past 35 years, she has served as the principal of Golden Direct Fundraising, a direct mail consultancy that has worked with a wide array of nonprofit clients.
Her volunteer activities include serving on the boards of Opera Santa Barbara and The Santa Barbara Symphony, and on the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum's Navigator Circle Committee and the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden Development Committee. She was also involved with the Santa Barbara Public Library Adult Literacy Program and its in-school program encouraging kids to read during the summer.
